El Abuelo was an oasis of calm, comfort & caring in the midst of the desert of distance driving from the Algarve. Our hostess couldn’t have been kinder, & the sauna/pool/jacuzi …. was terrific to relax tense mind & muscles. Fabulous!

A wonderful weekend experience, highly recommended. The owners have found the perfect balance in the way they deal with their guests – friendly and kind but never servile. Excellent facilities – huge bedroom, small but adequate spa included in the price, superb breakfasts with huge range of delicious home-made cakes, biscuits and pastries (also cooked breakfast), small gift on departure. Like a friendly 5 star hotel.
Negative:
We were unlucky with the weather, had to spend all our time in the spa and the two excellent restaurants in the village! For this reason I don’t consider it to be a negative point that the hotel doesn’t have its own restaurant.

Great room newly fiited out and decorated. Lovely ensuite with brilliant shower. Wonderful welcome, very friendly staff and excellent restaurant within 5 min walking distance. Spa facilities superb. Good location after arriving on Brittany Ferry to Santander.

So different to any other hotel we`ve ever stayed in, with great emphasis put on pleasing the clients during their stay. The owner Lourdes went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable and memorable! A truly unique hotel which we would highly recommend to anyone looking for something that little bit different

Incredibly nice people. They left us an espresso maker and breakfast in our room because we had to leave early for a flight.
Negative:
You must realize that the hotel is on the final approach path for the airport. There are very few flights (perhaps 1/hour) and they stop by 9PM and don’t start until say 8AM but still this should be considered by some.

Loué par défaut, (les hôtels recherchés étant complets) cet établissement est très confortable et l’accueil – en français – est d’un haut niveau. Le personnel attentif à la moindre sollicitation.
Negative:
Si on souhaite “vivre” la ville (comme c’était notre cas pendant ce périple au cours duquel nous avions privilégié les hôtels en ville) on regrette d’avoir à utiliser la voiture, et la sortie du soir prend une autre tournure. Dans les autres cas c’est merveilleux.
