The Bilbao Abando train station is Bilbao’s main train station. It is located at Bilbao’s city center quite close to the Circular Square. The station is located in, Bilbao’s sixth district, Abando. The train station’s name is attributed to transportation and public works minister who spear headed the improvement of Spain’s train station services.
The station houses a number of establishments, which offer restaurant services and a shopping complex. The station has connections to the Bilbao Concordia station, which is located right beside it. The station operates trains to Metro Bilbao to which the Bilbao Abando station is a part of. The Bilbao Abando station also has links to other transport and rail services including; the Bizkaibus bus station, the Eusko Tran tram station, the RENFE train station and the Cercanías commuter train station.
The station operates trains that go for short and long distances. The short distance trains are known as Cercanías.
